A Well-Deserved Nap

$125.00

When the Japanese look at the full moon, they do not see the man in the moon… instead they “see the silhouette of a rabbit pounding mochi (celebratory rice cakes) for New Year’s.  In this image, the rabbit -on the moon and among the stars- rests his head on a pillow, taking a well-deserved nap, having completed his duty. The center block and final cinnamon border are decoratively stitched by hand with Japanese sashiko thread. Three borders encase the bunnies with fussy-cut cornerstones of mon (Japanese family crest symbols). Machine-pieced and machine-quilted to hold center layer of batting in place. NOTE: There are four pieces in the Bunny Series. The center blocks are BLACK, not blue.

Size: 12.5” Ht. x 13.25” W.
