Shichi-Go-San (7, 5, 3)

Shichi-Go-San (7, 5, 3) © Susan Ball Faeder

Sixteen 5.5” square crazy quilt blocks, each sewn to a muslin base, feature Japanese vintage silk kimono remnants in brightly colored pinks, reds and yellows, that would only be worn by young girls’ for their celebratory temple visit when turning 3, 5, or 7. This custom is still carried on today, but mostly by the doting grandmothers! There are near-invisible “ties” at the block junctures, but there is no batting and no quilting. Can be displayed in a variety of ways. Sleeve for wall mount can be added on request.

Size: 22” square

SOLD.
