This fiber collage is the first in a series of ten works, constructed with very small vintage Japanese cotton fabric remnants (that would otherwise have been discarded) including aizome (indigo dyed), kasuri (hand-wovens) and katazome (hand-stenciled) hand-sewn to nylon netting for support. This particular piece is mounted onto a vintage woven Japanese narrow-striped kimono fabric intended for men. All ten pieces in the series have been widely exhibited, invited and juried into shows from Tokyo to New York City. Most recently, eight of the ten pieces series were on display at the Milton Art Bank in Susan’s solo exhibit titled, “BLUE.” Please follow the links below to view the entire series and also the “About” page that includes a description of how the title came about.
NOTE: Boro 2 and Boro 9 are sold. Boro 10 is traveling on exhibit through the end of October 2022.
