Yet another Susan Faeder original design from 1999(?), the main “feature” print from a small group of florals in 4 colorways inspired by Japanese silk crepe kimono fabric with borders of Arimatsu purple “kaneko” Shibori. I took 29 of 30 tour groups to Arimatsu (designated by the shogun 400 years ago as THE place to go for tie-dye fabric) because I did my graduate research there, a self-designed independent study (since art was not yet a part of the Nanzan University credited curriculum). I’m not 100% sure which temple/shrine this 6 ribbon “mamori” below is from. I used it through the years and I can only read “Jinja”—so maybe Heian in Kyoto.
