Tachibana たちばな Orange Blossom, Japanese Mon (Family Crest). This was my logo for my first professional letterhead before I even started #quiltersexpresstojapan. Even though I have never seen an orange blossom in Japan or anywhere, I loved the design and saying the name, Tachibana. The crest on this fabric is black—not blue. It is a printed fabric about 30” wide, so not the hand-stenciled traditional Yukata and more likely made for export. The black border fabric is from The American Classic Line designed by Jeff Gutcheon in 1986(?). I worked for him in his quilt shop for 3 years before starting my own business. His fabric designs and books were very popular and had a big influence on American quilts made between 1980–2000.
