Amulet Day 68/100

Chevron Shibori しぼり Every country has its own style of tie-dyeing. I am partial to what the Japanese have done, of course. This sweet little fragile antique remnant had to be lined to hold the shape and stitching. QFT stands for Quilt Festival Tokyo, circa June 1998 (the predecessor of the Tokyo Dome quilt show—but not related) commemorating the one time it seemed possible that Japan could have a national quilting organization—but no, it reverted to the tier-teaching pyramid of ikebana, tea ceremony, etc.. For example, the cultural framework of Japan. At least—however, the top sensei are 99% women (still). *Don’t miss Mt. Fuji and the clouds on the pin! We used to collect these pins at every chance like badges of courage. The beads are from a broken key ring I bought in Israel (2007) after visiting the “wall,” and held together here with knotted sashiko thread.
