Organic Collage: This is, by far, the most heavily worked and densely stitched piece so far. Using a foundation cloth of thickly woven vintage Japanese fabric, I just kept stitching and stitching the tiniest fragments until it felt secure. I added some sashiko stitches to fill in an spaces remaining, a “white” tree fragment or maybe it was like a piece of coral, and lastly an off-shaped earthen brown bead for grounding. At the bottom are parts of a broken key ring that I bought in Israel as a memento, after standing and praying at the Wailing Wall (August 2007). Never throw anything out. What are we but memories?
