Amulet Day 11/100

Amulet Day 11/100 © Susan Ball Faeder

Grey Calligraphy A: I love Japanese writing – whether on paper or cloth. I fussy cut a small segment from a piece that reads “Owakachi” – but I’ve no idea what this (ancient?) word means). I switched to warm tones, but kept the construction simple to keep the calligraphy accented. The top and bottom fabric is one I sold through QETJ: a modern “reprint” version of what used to be lacquered thread woven through silk. The piece on the right is Indian silk. Feeling this needed some jewels, I fished out my bead box and had some fun with color and texture. Yes, that’s another lone earring I wore in high school.
