This wall hanging is a “whole cloth” work where Japanese sashiko is hand-stitched intuitively, one stitch leading to the next (as the series title suggests) with no advance plan, while letting the design emerge from the needle and thread: from the top uzumaki energy swirls downward through the rains and back “home” to the ocean body. The base fabric is hand-dyed Japanese aizome (indigo), the border is vintage katazome (hand-stenciled) kimono fabric. The 1st piece in this series is Sashiko Tiles.
