Arigato: Boro Boro Byobu 10 – Peach (see detail above) from Susan’s Arigato Boro Boro Series was selected to be a part of “Purpose-Repurpose,” a tri-regional juried exhibit of professional artist members from the Studio Art Quilt Association (SAQA), a show that highlights extended use of scrap materials in new work. This venue will also include work by the juror, Paula Kovarik.
NOTE: A secondary quilt exhibit titled “Upcycle!” will be on view at the Blackrock Center for the Arts in Germantown, MD, from September 17- October 29, 2022. This juried exhibition draws from the larger SAQA global community and also showcases quilts that continue the rich tradition of incorporating elements that would otherwise be discarded and turning them into compelling compositions.
Susan’s Homage to Shizu, a mixed-media work with hand-weaving, painting, and collaged found objects, was awarded second prize in the Masters Level: Other & Photography category at the Susquehanna Art Society’s 2022 annual members’ show held at the Degenstein Community Library in Sunbury, PA. Over 100 works — in several categories and from many levels including students and beginners — are on view through August 25, 2022. Please check the library website for open hours.
“BLUE,” a 3-month, in-person, invitational solo exhibit featured the harmonious textile art of Susan Ball Faeder. Curated by the museum’s director, Sabrina Grey Wilson, the exhibition showcased examples of Susan’s art, born out of 50 years study and travel to Japan: quilts, fiber collage, sashiko hand-embroidery, and rag weaving, and her 100 cloth amulets ~ ALL with a specific nod to “Japan Blue,” aka indigo. Susan was the premier fiber artist to be welcomed at the glorious open space of the Milton Art Bank. See a video walkthrough of the show and selected works here.
Five of Susan’s works (including 2 quilts, a fiber collage and a weaving) were on view in July, 2022, at the Station Gallery in Lock Haven, PA, as part of the annual Invitational Fiber Art exhibit. Works by Dorothy Gerring and Meredith Grimsley, both regional Studio Art Quilt Association (SAQA) members, were also on view.
Susan’s textile art was also included in the 8th Lewisburg Arts Council 2022 Members’ Show at Gallery 255, located in the foyer of the Public Library for Union County, at 255 Reitz Boulevard, in Lewisburg, PA. The exhibit was on view in February and March 2022.
