An original pattern by Susan Ball Faeder (owner of QETJ) showing a graceful, upright stalk of bamboo with stems and leaves, this pattern is considered intermediate level because there is cutting and tracing required. Included in this pattern are 3 copies of the design on the front, one for visual reference and two for cutting (an extra in case you make a mistake!). Instructions are included for the basic sashiko stitch. If using kimono width fabric, you will need about ¾ of a yard, to allow for also practicing your stitch beforehand.
Although not yet shown on the website, we do carry Japanese sashiko thread in MANY colors (including the green and tan shown in this example), packages of sashiko needles, and Susan’s favorite markers: a silver pencil or the white powder heart-shaped Chalkoner Japanese marking tool. Please mention if you need these. We also carry authentic hand-dyed Japanese Indigo in several choices, found easily in our Indigo and Sashiko section.
