The Beckoning Cat Shop
Our retail shop, “The Beckoning Cat,” is named for the Japanese Maneki Neko, the cat with upraised paw who’s job it is to catch the attention of passers-by and welcome them in. Located in the heart of central Pennsylvania’s lovely Susquehanna Valley, we are 5 minutes from Rt. 80, Exit 215, marked Bucknell University. We opened our door in November 2005—now in our fifth year of business in charming Victorian downtown Lewisburg.
Our tagline “Treasures of Japan” means we offer not only the same (but ever-changing) beautiful and high-end selection of Japanese fabrics that we have offered in our quilt show booths and online for two decades, but also an ever-expanding and interesting inventory of Japanese gift items—some new, some vintage—such as jewelry, knick-knacks, scarves, purses… and of course, lots of Beckoning Cats!
After five years of welcoming visitors from near and far, the shop will now be open by appointment or by chance.
